1824 - TWO CENTURIES LANDSCAPES
1824 TWO CENTURIES LANDSCAPE is a commemorative symphonic poem for the 200th anniversary of the Banda Filarmónica de Magueija-Lamego, Portugal, Portugal. For this composition, Andrés Álvarez was inspired by the legend in which, according to the stories, the band was forced to cross the Douro River in a small boat. Given that the weather conditions were not at all favourable, at the time of the crossing the boat was in danger of sinking, generating an atmosphere of considerable insecurity among the musicians. In the midst of their anguish, an invocation arose among them to Nossa Sra. a Inmaculada Conceiçao, begging for the necessary help to overcome this situation and manage to cross the river, which ended up happening, saving the group. Since then, the Band began to honour its patron saint on December 8.
